The plot was nice, and we had a few good laughs throughout. It's not big budget but in now way is it "low budget". I've only ever left the theater for two movies before (The Gods Must Be Crazy and The Thin Red Line). (an extraterrestrial being enlists the help of ordinary kids to find his way home), scrounges up its characters from any number of coming-of-age films, and shoots it all in the found-footage format that has become all the rage in recent years. We loved this film. The actors were also unknown to us - often a plus. I expected an ET experience. Does for "E.T." We got in for an early screening of this movie, not knowing quite what it would be, just that it had kids and a cute little alien. And they should warn you that the filming is shaky and poor. Sure ET, the old Indiana Jones movies and the other stuff was great, but that doesn't mean new movies are bad by definition. Convinced something bigger is going on, they go to their parents and the authorities. . My wife got preview tickets for my kids and I, I will have to say that I went under protest originally. What a waste of time and money. My kids seem to like the movie well enough. I'm still not sure what was up with the end. i like Earth to Echo, but is not good as the others kids movies of the 80's ,and the Super 8 is better. Kinda like Earth to Echo's tween heroes. The people in front of us walked out within 20 minutes and I wish we had. I did laugh along since I have the personality of a kid but I would recommend this movie for teens and kids at sleepovers or get togethers rather than for adults to watch. It could've been so much better. It is a smart, visually dynamic film, but audiences may miss Spielberg's wonderment. What I got was vertigo. The aspect that really stands out in Earth To Echo is the cinematography, it's unique but somewhat shaky and annoying. I know there's been lots of bad reviews but the movie overall was fantastic, it also had a good tale of friendship with the characters. This was the bets movie of all time, and I like it better than even Disney, and I am a Disney fan. A surprisingly sweet little sci-fi gem for the young and the young at heart. As did the encounter on their find. My review focuses on Relativity Media's latest production of Earth To Echo, a science fiction journey for the new age. Highly recommend giving this film a chance. Now make it three. I saw the bad reviews and thought it would be boring, but when I saw it I literally said and thought to everybody around me, "who could think this is boring?" Far too many times we have seen trailers that show us all of the big highlights of movies but these highlights make up about 5% of the films real premise.
