I don't listen to it all the time, but every time I hear his songs, it's like coming home. I have been a "John Denver fan" for many years! Denver became a star during the awkward period of the old and the new, where the pop music and sweet, sentimental rifts were taking a back seat to the raucous rock and roll of Elvis Presley and Creedence Clearwater Revival. (TV Movie 2013). At only 60 minutes long (90 if you count the lengthy interruptions to plea for donations), the documentary feels like it really only scratches the surface of John Denver's life. Deutschendorf wound up finding his talent with the guitar at a young age, eventually working with groups like The Chad Mitchell Trio and Peter, Paul & Mary, capitalizing off of his earnest talent and his sweet and mild voice.Henry Deutschendorf eventually became "John Denver," as he wrote a variety of songs that exhibited the find art of songwriting. 'Sunshine on my Shoulders' makes me want to cry.
